Oily skin is often thick, and the pores are enlarged. Skin produces excess sebum due to overactive sebaceous glands. Oily skin gets clogged easily, and is prone to black heads and other impurities. The oiliness of skin is hereditary, but digestive problems, hormonal changes, unhealthy lifestyle and wrong skin care can also contribute to oily skin. Oily skin is divided into two subcategories: oily without dryness, and oily dehydrated with a dry surface and flakiness. In home treatment, avoid using drying products, which cause an inverse reaction in which the skin starts to produce even more sebum. Skin should not be over-treated, but not without moisturisation. Both cases lead to the skin's imbalance and an over-production of sebum.
Natural cosmetics are an excellent choice for oily skin, since they provide effective yet gentle products, which help the skin to find balance. There are no ingredients that form a film on skin's surface, so the skin can breathe free. This is important for easily clogged skin. For cleansing oily skin, you can choose between double cleansers (cleansing oil and foam), gentle cleansing gels and foams, and cleansing milks, oils and lotions. Pay attention to skin's dryness. Facial toner should be used morning and night. The toner can be purifying, pore minimising and brightening, but preferably alcohol free. Cleansing micellar water is ideal for morning cleanse.
For oily skin, choose a purifying and brightening serum with a watery texture and follow with a light emulsion. You can apply a lightweight facial oil to your face overnight to balance the skin's sebum production. Treat eye contour skin according to its condition. Eye contour skin is often much thinner, even in oily skin, and can be dry. A good combination is to use a light, brightening and uplifting eye contour gel in the morning and a creamy, nurturing lotion in the evening. Exfoliate skin once or twice a week. For ideal results, we recommend alternating between an exfoliator with granules and a brightening exfoliator containing fruit acids. After exfoliating, use a purifying mask, which does not dry your skin, at least once a week.
