Sóley Organics was founded in 2007, but its story started already over one hundred years ago. The woman behind Icelandic Sóley Organics skincare products is an actress, Sóley Elíasdóttir. Sóley left the acting career behind to continue the legacy of her family to embrace the skills of natural healing. Sóley’s great great grandmother, Thorunn, was especially Sóley’s inspiration. Grasa-Thorunn (herb-Thorunn) was a famous natural healer and midwife. There are a lot of stories in Iceland how practical Grasa-Thorunn healed people by treating them with medicine and balms made of wild natural herbs.
Sóley embraces the legacy of Thorunn and wants to pass the knowledge of healing with wild natural herbs to the next generations. Sóley makes her best to create skincare products, that are effective, but gentle. The herbs in Sóley’s products bring help to different kind of skin problems and are as pure and natural that you could even eat them. Active ingredients are collected from Iceland’s highlands where the world’s purest air and nature are almost untouched. Icelandic herbs grow at the mercy of harsh climate, in the land where the sun doesn’t rise half the year. During the summer when the sun doesn’t set at all, the plants absorb a huge amount of nutrients and light to themselves. Due to the harsh climate, the plants are full of vitamins, flavonoids and antioxidants. Sóley collects the herbs herself and with the help of her family and friends. The products are made in a small village of 300 people, on the shore of Northern fjords, at the feet of the mountain of Kaldbakur. The water used in the products comes from the Kaldbakur. It’s crystal clear and pure water that you can drink straight from the spring.
All oils, herbs and essential oils and the whole production of Sóley were eco-certified in 2010. Sóley products have the Scandinavian environment symbol. Sóley Organics contains products for face, body and hair. The line also contains beautiful scented candles and room spray.
